Travis Kelce 'taking a step back' from things that don't involve football - including the Grammys

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have a busy month ahead, with the Super Bowl and the Grammys, but unfortunately, we won’t see the couple’s first red carpet appearance, as Kelce won’t be able to make it to support his girlfriend.

The award show will take place on Sunday, February 4 in Los Angeles, just a week before the all-important Super Bowl in which Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs secured their spot last week. After the show, Taylor Swift will be making her way to Tokyo, and hopefully, back to Vegas for Sunday’s big game to support her partner. But unfortunately, Kelce can’t make his schedule work to support her at the Grammys.

Travis Kelce reveals why he won’t be at the Grammys

We were all hoping for the first official Red Carpet photos of the celebrity couple, but unfortunately, that won’t be happening this weekend, due to the 34-year-old having to practice for the Super Bowl.

“I wish I could go support Taylor at the Grammys and watch her win every single award that she’s nominated for,” he said on The Pat McAfee Show.

“But… unfortunately, I gotta get ready for this big old Super Bowl and we got a week.” He then revealed that Sunday is a travel day for the team when they’ll be heading to Vegas.

He then revealed while prepping for the game, he needed to “take a step back” from everything that doesn’t involve the sport, but we know he’ll be cheering for her six nominations from afar!

“Everybody in this building knows my intentions. Football is my main focus right now. There are a lot of people counting on me in this building, in this city, and in this organization. This is my number one focus,” he said.

This year’s Super Bowl will mark the sixth time for the Chiefs and their fourth appearance in five years. Overall, they have three titles to their name, and they’ll be hoping to make it four.

Just like Kelce, Taylor also has prior commitments before the Super Bowl and will be kick-starting her Eras music tour once again, heading off to Tokyo, Japan for four nights, finishing a day before the big game.

This led fans to fear she may not be able to attend the game, but due to time differences, she can make it to Vegas on time. We’ll keep our fingers crossed!

The pop star will be hoping to add to her 12 Grammys

The Cruel Summer singer already has 12 Grammys to her name at the age of 34, and she’ll be hoping to add to that this year with her six nominations.

If she wins Album of The Year this weekend, for Midnights, it’ll place her in the top spot for most Album of the Year wins.

Many fans were hoping they’d be able to see their fave perform, however, it’s looking unlikely, according to Entertainment Tonight.

We’re excited to see her nonetheless!
