Travis Kelce is refusing to shave his beard as it might help him 'win the Super Bowl'

Travis Kelce has said he believes his beard is his good luck charm during the NFL season.

During the latest episode of New Heights, the podcast Travis Kelce does with his brother Jason, he revealed he thinks his long beard is the key to his success. The Kansas City Chiefs have been rather lucky in their recent games – which Travis’ girlfriend Taylor Swift has been attending since late last year – and they’re now off to the Super Bowl. Jason, as ever, teased his younger sibling about his facial hair and Travis was adamant it was staying – for now.

Jason was very curious about Travis Kelce’s beard and the length it currently is, even sounding on the verge of concerned. Travis, who is often straight to the point, was adamant it was staying and was his good luck charm.

“Dude, what is going on with your beard right now, by the way? We gotta talk about this. It’s long,” said Jason, 36. “It’s going bigger. Yetti.”

Travis, sounding proud, replied: “It’s growing, putting in the work. It’s been rolling, baby.”

Jason then asked when the last time his brother, 34, trimmed “that thing,” and guessed it was months ago.

“Yeah, before Christmas,” Trav explained. Jason then suggested it was Travis’ “play-off beard” and he agreed.

“[It’s] an ode to my hockey roots, it’s an ode to the ups and downs of the season. I just feel like when I look in the mirror, I just feel like …” Travis said as Jason asked “Rugged?” Travis said yes, and it was “like I’ve been working for something, like I’ve been focused on something.”

“I haven’t been worried about anything but getting s*** done,” said Travis, “I feel the power of it.”

“I’ve been playing way better since I’ve been growing it.”

“Well, your playoff stats have been pretty unreal,” said Jason. “There you go,” said Travis.

Travis’ controversial haircut

As well as his beard, Travis Kelce has been attracting attention for his fade haircut. He addressed it at both a conference and later in the podcast. He was insistent he didn’t “invent” the hairstyle, despite an article saying the celebrity did and called it “the Travis Kelce.”

“It’s ridiculous,” Travis joked about the article. “I got a good fade if you need it, though. It’s a two on top and a nice high-to-mid fade with a taper in the back. I didn’t invent that. I just asked for it. They throw me into the wolves like that.

“That was messed up, man. I don’t want anything to do with that one, man.”

Later in the podcast episode, he was told by Jason one barber had 50 requests for the Jason Kelce. Bits of the article Jason read out left Travis flabbergasted. One part had him very confused when it compared the craze for his hair to that of Jennifer Aniston when she was on Friends.

“Who the f*** is in quotes saying this?” he asked.

Jason teased the music star’s boyfriend about “inventing” the cut with Travis, unamused, retorting quickly: “No I didn’t.”

“Thanks for whoever wrote this article,” Travis said while not looking best pleased. “I had more barbers attack me for not even having anything to do with it! Like I didn’t want anything to do with this.”

He concluded: “I didn’t invent the fade, but I know where you can get a good one.”
