Meghan Markle's 'steely' words of warning to her friend when she brought up Harry

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s relationship moved pretty quickly, getting engaged a year after meeting. It seems like the two knew they were meant to be, as Markle is claimed to have been telling friends about how well it was going with the Duke just four weeks after the initial first date, getting ‘stern’ when they issued ‘negativity.’

The couple had their extravagant wedding in 2018, however, stepped down as senior royals in 2020. One author claims that her friend and agent, Gina Nelthorpe-Cowne told Meghan Markle she wouldn’t be able to make any more movies if she married him, and her response was allegedly very ‘snappy.’

Meghan Markle ‘snapped’ at friend for sharing ‘negativity’ towards Prince Harry relationship

Although Meghan and Prince Harry were obviously very busy individuals, they still managed to make their relationship work.

Just four weeks after meeting, the former Suits actress set off on a four-week ‘whirlwind tour’ before arriving back in London for the first time since meeting Harry in June.

As she met up with friend/agent Gina Nelthorpe-Cowne for lunch as she arrived back, she told her ‘things were going really well’ with Harry, Tom Bower writes in his book, Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War between the Windsors, before reportedly telling her Harry had invited her to Botswana.

“I understood straight away, that Meghan would mesmerize that broken-hearted young boy we saw following in his mother’s coffin. I was almost as excited as her about her conquest. Anyone taken to Botswana in those circumstances would fall in love,” Gina recalled, according to the author.

He then wrote that she asked the TV star if she had ‘any idea’ what she was doing, as she explained Harry was ‘clearly thinking about marriage.’

“Do you realize you won’t be able to make any more movies? Royal duties will ruin your life,” the book claims she told Markle.

However, it’s alleged that the Duchess of Sussex then got ‘snappy’ back, holding up her hand and saying “Stop, be quiet. I don’t want to hear any negativity.”

Gina, who was apparently “taken back” by the ‘steel’ in Meghan’s voice, looked at “the hard fury in her eyes,” according to the author.

Now, years later, the two are residing in their $15m LA mansion with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.

Meghan’s seven words after first date with Prince Harry

Also addressed in the book, is what Meghan is claimed to have said to Gina after her first date with the Prince.

“He’s lovely, adorable, and such a gentleman,” she allegedly told Nelthorpe-Cowne, saying they were both like “excitable teenagers.”

16 months after their first date, the two announced to the world that they were engaged, and in their first interview together, speaking on their first date, Meghan explained:

“We met for a drink, and then I think very quickly into that we said, ‘Well, what are we doing tomorrow? We should meet again.’”

Harry also told former host of the Late Late Show, James Corden, that he knew his wife was the one within weeks of dating, and knew it was “pretty special” after just the second date.
