Jennifer Aniston 'struggling' as Matthew Perry's death came only months after tragedy

Just over a week after the death of her Friends co-star Matthew Perry, sources close to Jennifer Aniston say she’s ‘struggling’ with his death, and it ‘completely knocked her off her feet.’

The TV star had always been close to Matthew Perry, as he revealed she regularly checked up on him when he was going through his struggles during filming. As well as losing her friend, Aniston also lost her dad last year, making Perry’s death her second ‘massive loss’ in under 12 months.

Jennifer Aniston is ‘struggling’ with Matthew Perry’s death

Jennifer and the rest of the Friends cast attended the funeral of their former co-star at the end of last week, and sources reveal his sudden death has hit herself, and Courteney Cox particularly hard.

“Out of the remaining five, Jen and Courteney [Cox] are reeling the most, and Jen is probably the one who is struggling most acutely,” a source told Page Six.

“It’s a second massive loss in less than a year, with the one-year anniversary of her dad’s death just around the corner,” they continued.

The Hollywood star’s dad, John Aniston, known for his role on Days of Our Lives, sadly passed away in November 2022.

In an Instagram tribute to him at the time, she penned: “You were one of the most beautiful humans I ever knew. I am so grateful that you went soaring into the heavens in peace – and without pain. And on 11/11 no less! You always had perfect timing.”

The source claims that Jen, who was extremely close to her father, still hasn’t fully regained her footing from that” and now, Perry’s death “has just completely knocked her off her feet.”

Aniston ‘checked on Perry the most’

In his memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, released a year before his death, the 54-year-old revealed Aniston was the co-star who ‘caught wind’ of his alcohol struggles.

When asking her how she’d noticed, the We’re The Millers star said: “We can smell it,” which Perry admitted ‘hit like a sledgehammer.’

Speaking in an interview with Diane Sawyer, Perry said the confrontation was a “scary” moment. He then revealed how his TV friends were all there for him, but Aniston, who he’d admitted to having a crush on, checked up on him the most.
